Roger Harris, Ph.D. FISSN
Dr. Roger Harris has a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. In 1968, having read about a muscle biopsy technique being developed in Sweden, Dr. Harris joined Dr. Eric Hultman and Dr. Jonas Bergstrom at St. Eriks Hospital, Stockholm, to launch the modern study of exercise biochemistry as it exists today. Dr. Harris eventually shifted his research away from the hot topic of the day, which was carbohydrate loading, focusing instead on creatine and carnosine. This interest resulted in numerous scientific studies, which researched creatine loading in muscle, and the effect of beta-alanine supplementation on muscle carnosine. Today, Dr. Harris is involved with research projects at Korean National Sports University, Seoul, Korea, the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and, Nottingham Trent University, UK.
