How Beta-Alanine Affects Body Composition
For years, many in the fitness world touted BMI (body mass index) as an irrefutable means of determining metabolic health. But there is a more accurate way to learn about an individual’s overall level of health and fitness as well as where improvements can be made—namely, by assessing body composition.
Body Composition: What It Is and Why It Is Important
The term “body composition” is used in both the fitness and health industries and refers to a person’s fat mass in relation to fat-free mass (e.g. bone, organs, and lean muscle mass).
Achieving a healthy body composition—a ratio of greater muscle and bone mass than fat mass—is an important goal for athletes of all abilities. Exercise and proper nutrition are excellent ways for a person to attain their ideal ratio. CarnoSyn® beta-alanine is another way athletes can build better muscle—thus achieving and maintaining a healthier body composition. In fact, over 55 clinical studies support its athletic performance benefits.
Beta-Alanine’s Effect on Body Composition
When introduced into the body, beta-alanine combines with the amino acid histidine to form carnosine. Over time, carnosine buffers the pH decline that causes muscle fatigue and failure, while building endurance and improving recovery. With greater endurance comes greater stamina and strength—resulting in an increase in lean muscle mass. Supplementing with CarnoSyn® is the most effective way to achieve these results.
In one study, researchers found supplementation with beta-alanine appears to stimulate lean body mass growth in athletes. The results also suggest that ingesting beta-alanine enhances high-intensity interval training (HIIT) sessions, which can improve endurance performance and lean body mass. In another study, athletes supplementing with beta-alanine achieved an increase in lean muscle mass.
CarnoSyn® beta-alanine is clearly backed by science, but what are its results in the gym and on the field?
Top Performers’ Secret to Improving Body Composition
When it comes to beta-alanine’s effects on body composition, the proof is in the performance.
In 2020, 56 Team CarnoSyn® athletes trained at TEST Football Academy, a 45-day training program that prepares collegiate football players for the NFL Combine. This intensive 45-day program included a strict training, nutrition, and supplementation regimen that incorporated daily doses of both CarnoSyn® instant release and SR CarnoSyn® sustained release beta-alanine. Of these athletes, 46 achieved a total fat loss of 216 pounds and a total lean body mass (LBM) gain of 257 pounds, for a total body composition swing of 473 pounds. (See documented results along with before and after photos.)
Of the 46 athletes who were post-tested, they averaged 4.7 pounds of fat loss and 5.6 pounds of LBM gain, with an average total swing of 10.3 pounds. TEST athletes also achieved performance improvements: an average increase of 2.5 inches on the vertical leap, 6 inches on the broad jump, 6 reps on the 225-bench press, and decreased 40-yard dash times by .17 seconds. These aren’t small gains, especially for an athlete with their eye on an NFL contract.
The Safest Beta-Alanine Available
Supplementing with high-quality, potent, and pure beta-alanine has a positive effect on body composition.
But don’t be fooled by generic brands, which are often marketing a tainted and potentially unsafe product. CarnoSyn® is the only beta-alanine that is backed by global patents and has garnered New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) status from the FDA (which guarantees its quality and purity). It is also guaranteed to be free of banned substances.
When you’re looking to improve your body composition, supplementing with CarnoSyn® beta-alanine is a proven way to get results. Learn more about safe supplementation here.
TWO WAYS TO GET RESULTS
CarnoSyn® beta-alanine is available in two different forms—instant release and sustained release—offering two ways to dose. SR CarnoSyn® offers the same benefits as instant release CarnoSyn®, but in an advanced delivery system that allows for increased dosing for better results. When used in tandem, the combination of instant release and sustained release gives athletes the ability to stack their dosing for higher quantities of beta-alanine and even more performance gains.
